China City of Hangzhou Wants to Become the Capital of Esports

One of the most beautiful cities in China, (and the capital of Zheijang province) aims to become the capital of Esports. Even though, it is going to be the host of the next Asian Games in four years, it didn’t stop it from wanting more.

Big Investments:

The local government of this town has already built a large complex intended precisely for this even because they have set their eyes to become the Esports capital of the world. Many people are supporting this decision due to the fact that this place is truly remarkable.

It has breathtaking lakes, various temples and currently, it contains 3.94-million-square-feet complex. Its worth is around $280 million, which is approximately ¥2 billion RMB!

Their Efforts Didn’t Go Unnoticed:

Top-notch gaming companies have heard that this city has developed an interest for this and now they are eager to know more about it. A Chinese esports organization, LGD Gaming that already cooperates with various different teams and Allied Gaming (which runs a network of esports) have joined their forces and opened, both a venue and an office in that complex.

Furthermore, LGD’s League of Legends team will soon join them too. On the government-run website called People.cn you can find an article that give more details regarding this project.

Namely, it states that this complex is going to attract a lot of new tourists and potential clients. Moreover, more than 10,000 esports professional are expected along with $140 million (which is ¥1 billion RMB) from taxes only!

And That’s Not It…

This city plans to build more. According to its building projects, we can look forward to seeing fourteen esports facilities in the next three to maybe four years and they want to invest up to ¥15.45 billion RMB which is around $2.22 billion!

A theme park, hospital that is going to be specialized in helping players, an esports academy and esports-theme hotel, all of these facilities will be part of this ambitious project. China hasn’t encountered complexes like this one before which doesn’t mean that it won’t because there are some ventures that are yet to be made.

According to some reports, one of the biggest multinational investment companies from China wants to build in the city of Wuhu in east part of this country. They plan on developing an esports theme, esports university and many other interesting facilities.

Furthermore, Taicang also announced that it is going to create something similar. It will probably be another esports town.
