Malta-Based Operators Said to Have Violated Law

Malta-Based Operators Said to Have Violated Law

Online gambling can be very entertaining; of course, only if you set some boundaries that mustn’t be crossed. Once that happens, it’s time to take some precautions in order to prevent any further damage from occurring.

Who Has Done What?

This time, our focus is on six gambling companies from Malta. Namely, Norway accused them of illegally targeting Norwegian players.

According to reports, the government from this country has forbidden any form of transactions precisely from these operators.

Only two state-run firms are allowed to supply consumers with their services. The first one is Norsk Tipping which operates casino games and sports betting and the other one, Norsk Rikstoto which supplies race betting services.

What’s The Problem Then?

The biggest problem in this entire situation is the fact that there are a plethora of companies and gambling websites that are located and licensed in other places, and yet, they are still offering their services in this country.

Furthermore, lawmakers from Norway are determined to get rid of these corporations that are unlicensed. Unfortunately, they have been doing this for years, but without any major success.

Moreover, the Norwegian Gaming Authority (NGA) instructed local banks to keep their eyes wide open and block all sorts of payments that are going to or coming from accounts that are suspicious, meaning that they were used for anything that is connected to gambling.

No Room For Mistakes:

As mentioned earlier, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. That’s precisely why in November last year, the regulator wrote several letters intended for four gambling corporations from Malta.

They wanted to highlight how important it is to stop targeting players from Norway and what the consequences might be if they didn’t stop. These are the names of those operators: Betsson Group, Co-Gaming Ltd. (a subsidiary of Swedish firm, Cherry AB), Gaming Innovation Group and L&L Europe Players Ltd. Besides them, two more received similar letters – Lucky Dino and Kindred Group.

Furthermore, a representative for the Gaming Authority stated that they have very strong evidence that each of these six companies were offering their services to various consumers from Norway without being allowed to do that.

He also added that these letters were given not only to them but also to the Malta Gaming Authority, from each all these operators hold licenses for the provision of online gambling services.

Comment: I can’t believe they were capable of doing something like that!
