US Betting Industry Preparing For Big Year

US Betting Industry Preparing For Big Year

The gambling industry is on a constant rise. Still, there are several countries that are absolute leaders when it comes to it.

One of them is the United States. According to some reports, currently, it ranks first in the Top-30 Nations that made a huge contribution to this industry.

USA Rocking the World with Statistics:

Recent analysis showcased that the casino industry in this country ended last year by earning a staggering USD 107.99 billion. These statistics were provided by the H2 Gambling Capital consultancy.

There are other countries that were also quite successful when it comes to gambling, however, they weren’t nearly as good as the United States of America. For instance, China earned USD 70.01 billion and Japan followed it with USD 48.41 billion.

Land-Based Casinos VS Interactive Gaming:

Furthermore, the majority of this revenue comes from land-based venues, and in that field, The US was once again thriving, earning $104.82 billion.

Now, as far as interactive gaming is concerned, the results are not as good as some might have assumed. Namely, they lost their first position and ended on the fourth place with a total of USD 3.17 billion.

Countries that took the first three places were – the United Kingdom with USD 7.54 billon, Japan and China taking second and third spots.

Post PASPA Changes:

In May last year, after many years of various disputes, the Supreme Court of America has finally allowed sports betting in forty-seven states.

The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (widely-known as PASPA) was against this decision, allowing legalization of this form of entertainment only in four states.

This situation has caused some drastic changes in the US economy, introducing it to both new possibilities as well as challenges.

Fighting Against PASPA:

Approximately seven years ago, the entire battle against this organization began. New Jersey brought up this subject and the AGA (the American Gaming Association) joined this discussion stating that the time has come to declare the old piece of legislation as unconstitutional.

Moreover, they claimed that black markets in this country made huge progress earning up to US 150 billion. Namely, this is the amount of money Americans spent on betting illegally every year.

According to research, conducted by H2GC two years ago, the US has earned $200 million on regulated sports betting only.

This ended up on the seventh placed among the world markets, while the most successful country was the United Kingdom with US 3.05 billion, and Italy and France entered the TOP-3 with US 1.84 and US 1.15 billion.

How It Affected Domestic Major League Sports?

Back in 2012, four leading US leagues joined forces to go against New Jersey in its battle against PASPA.

Namely, they claimed that this annulment could potentially hurt the integrity of the games. On the other hand, out of 45,000 NFL fans surveyed by the AGA, more than half of them were interested in state-level legalization of sports betting.

Furthermore, they have even claimed that they would probably have greater desire and interest to watch the games.
